Leon Rasmussen

May 16, 1930 Apr 20, 2025

Leon Rasmussen, age 94, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah. He was born on May 16, 1930, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to Henry and Erba Rasmussen.

Leon was a proud graduate of North Sanpete High School, where he played football and developed a lifelong love for sports. After moving to Salt Lake City, he met the love of his life, Verdean. They were married on November 26, 1952, and later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children: Vicki, Money (Kent), Steven, and Jay (Vickie). He was a devoted supporter of West Kearns Little League, where he spent many years cheering on his sons.

Leon and Verdean shared a love for adventure and travel, taking countless road trips and cruises together over the years. Leon especially cherished time spent with family, creating countless memories with his children and grandchildren.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Leon served faithfully in the High Priest Quorum Presidency and as a dedicated home teacher, at times visiting as many as twelve families. He was a simple, unassuming man who loved life, family, and anything chocolate.

Leon will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Aspen Ridge Hospice for their tender and compassionate care during his final days.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 1:00 to 1:45 PM. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
