Lois Virginia Fox Magera passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 13, 1935, in Salt Lake City, to Harold “Red” Fox and Lucy Virginia Walker.
Some of Lois’s most cherished childhood memories were attending Wolstenholme family reunions at Saltair and spending time at Uncle Tom’s house, playing in the “big forest,” where he always made homemade ice cream for the children.
She was her dad’s sidekick and her mom’s “little helper.” Lois spent much of her youth helping on her Walker grandparents’ farm in Magna. It was there that she met the love of her life, Louis E. Magera. He arrived at the family home to pick her up for a blind date, and after seeing how “good looking” he was at the front door, she quickly got ready and agreed to go. They were married on June 13, 1953, and remained inseparable until Louie’s passing on September 2, 2021.
Later in life, Lois was able to purchase the Walker family estate where she had grown up and first met Louie. She lovingly renovated the home and spent many happy years there. It was a source of great pride to her, and she cared for it meticulously. Her home and yard were always immaculate, reflecting the strong work ethic she carried throughout her life. If something needed to be done right, you could count on Lois to help make it happen.
Lois spent her life caring for others. She showed her love not only through words, but through constant acts of service and devotion to those around her. Her family was deeply loved, and they remain forever grateful for the care and love she gave them.
Lois was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, and she loved Jehovah God wholeheartedly. Her relationship with him was of the upmost importance to her. She devoted most of her life to faithfully serving Him and helping others come to know Him. Along the way, she formed many cherished lifelong friendships and found great joy in helping others learn about the Bible’s hope and deepen their own personal relationship with Jehovah.
Lois will be remembered for her loyalty, love, perfectionism, her legendary headstands, being the biggest Utah Jazz fan, the best dance teacher, making unforgettable potato salad, and being “Grandma” to everyone who knew her.
Lois was preceded in death by her four siblings: Harold Larry Fox, Carol Fay Parrington, Danny L. Fox, and Sidney Lynn Fox.
She is survived by her two children, Louis Craig Magera and Gaynel (Patrick) Cromwell; eight grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 7:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 3164 South 7200 West, Magna, UT. A Zoom link will be provided at a later date for those that are unable to attend.
Per Lois’s request, a small family service will be held on June 20, 2026, where her ashes will be laid to rest alongside Louie’s in the same special place.
