Gail Devey, a loving, devoted, and fiercely independent woman, passed away peacefully at the age of 90. A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gail prioritized her faith and family above all else, living a life rich in purpose, reflection, and connection.
Though she never had children of her own, Gail cultivated deep and meaningful relationships with her siblings, nieces, extended family, and dear friends. She was both content in solitude and radiant in the company of those she loved, bringing warmth and insight wherever she went.
Gail was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a master gardener whose green thumb brought beauty and peace to those around her. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Oregon and the Tuacahn Theater, and was an avid reader with a curious mind and a love for lifelong learning. Gail also served a mission for her church in Massachusetts and had a deep love for music, often playing the piano to share her love of melody with others.
Professionally, Gail worked as a secretary for Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, where she was known for her intelligence, reliability, and grace. She married Gene Devey, and they shared a tender companionship until his passing in 1995. After his death, Gail continued to live independently with remarkable strength and resilience, embodying a quiet dignity through the years.
Gail did not want traditional funeral services and preferred an intimate graveside service with those closest to her. Her life was a testament to faith, loyalty, and the beauty of simple joys. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, her deep love for those in her circle, and the thoughtful way she nurtured both people and places.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love, learning, and quiet strength will live on in the lives she touched.
A small graveside service will be held for close family and friends in accordance with Gail’s wishes.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Ashley, Gail’s nurse from Inspiration Hospice. Her gentle presence and devoted care ensured Gail was surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity in her final days. Her compassion brought peace to both Gail and those who loved her.
