Margaret Helen Eldridge passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, in Midvale, Utah. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on September 22, 1936, to James Hunter Gemmell and Julia Helen Clark. After World War II, she emigrated to the United States and made her home in Utah.
Margaret married Reed LeRoy Eldridge on March 6, 1953. They were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, they were the proud parents of five sons: Len, Michael, Steven, Brian, and K.C. - although with Dad, she really raised 6 boys! Margaret proudly encouraged and supported all of her sons and their many activities. She especially enjoyed music, sports, camping, boating, and spending time outdoors—sharing in the activities her family loved.
Margaret was a woman of many talents, and not shy about displaying them! She wrote the first Utah Youth Soccer League rule book, was an active member of the National Insurance Women’s Group, and was a performer at the Metropole Theater in Glasgow at the age of 10.
Reed and Margaret were blessed to serve together in the Jordan River Temple for many years. They also cherished the opportunity to serve together as missionaries at the LDS Employment Office in Sandy, Utah, and at Starpoint Girls Camp.
Margaret is survived by her children: Len and Denise, Michael and Julie, Steve and Lori, Brian and Becky, and K.C.; 10 beloved grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her dearly loved brothers.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her generous spirit, and the many years of love and service she shared with those around her.
