Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, surrounded by her daughters and grandchildren.
Marilyn was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on December 5, 1941, to Nils Waldemar and Evelyn Agnes Larsen Nilsson. Marilyn was the oldest of 5 children.
Marilyn was too beautiful for just anyone, but when Max came along, mom knew he was the one. They were married on October 2, 1960, and later sealed in the L.D.S. Temple. Max and Marilyn were blessed with 5 children, and the proud grandparents of 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Her greatest joys were her family and faith. She loved to spend one on one with her children and grandchildren, often spending many days and nights watching over them when they needed comfort or advice. Mom’s legacy will continue in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Marilyn had a special place in her heart for everyone and loved everyone’s company. She loved cooking for her family, family parties, painting her ceramics with her dearest friends, musical theater, and shopping in New York City for beautiful purses.
Marilyn is survived by her 5 children, daughters, Diane McGregor, Lanea (Thomas) Sims, Sharee (Brent) Forsgren, Rachel (Colin) Rees, and son, Mark Kenney, brother Richard (Cathy) Nilsson, sister Janet Christiansen.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Max LeRoy Kenney, her parents Nils and Evelyn Nilsson, brother Stephen Nilsson, sister Shirley Kilfoyle, great-granddaughter Oaklynn Shanea Cooley, and granddaughter Brittany Sims.
Please join us in honoring the beautiful life of Marilyn on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00am at Redwood Memorial Estates for the viewing and graveside service; 6500 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, Utah..
