Our dear father, grandfather and brother, Mark M Wagstaff, 81, passed away peacefully at his earthly home and returned to his heavenly home on January 30, 2023. Mark was born on May 12, 1941 to Keith Amos and LaDean Kathlyn Wagstaff and grew up in American Fork, Utah.
Mark attended Utah State and BYU Universities, graduating from BYU. After graduating college, he began his career at Hill Air Force Base working as a contracting officer and heading the Procurement Quality Program, which he loved until he retired in Jan 1997. He also served in the US Naval Reserve. After retirement he enjoyed working construction projects and assisted in building two of his homes. He also enjoyed lifting weights at the gym, fixing up cars, prospecting for gold, working in his garden, camping at Sourdough, playing board games with his family, and finding garage sale deals. One of his favorite hobbies was cutting down trees, he would spend hours chain sawing wood either for himself or for others. He also loved to travel, he was able to see many places in the Pacific, Asia, Europe and throughout the states. His favorite trips were to Africa (3 safari trips with his brothers) and to Italy (with his children).
Mark married Shauna Robertson on 7 February 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They spent 27 wonderful years together raising their 5 children on their farm “Wagstaff Weedacres” in Roy. They later divorced. Mark was very close to his children, and always supported and cared for them in every aspect of their lives.
Mark was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He dedicated his life to his Heavenly Father and served him faithfully. Mark served a two year LDS mission in Minnesota, he also served in many church callings and loved every one of them.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Joanne) Wagstaff, Neil (Lyle) Wagstaff, and his sister Kathleen (Ron) Ellis; children, Gina (Steve) Patterson, Shawn (Julie) Wagstaff, Scott (Natalie) Wagstaff and Ryan Wagstaff. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Cleo, his brother Dean and his daughter Cheryl.
Mark made many friends and touched so many lives with his love, kindness, generosity and all-around love for his fellow mankind. His warm smile and great sense of humor made people laugh, he was always positive, loving and kind to everyone he met.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 27th Ward Chapel, 3776 W 5375 S, Roy, UT. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel prior to the service.
