Marsha Ann Martin

Jun 11, 1942 Jul 16, 2024

Marsha Ann Martin passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 16th, 2024 with family holding each of her hands.

Born June 11, 1942 to Paul Hyde Turner and Reba Mary Kygar Turner, Marsha lived her entire life of 82 years in the bucolic town of Morgan, Utah. She was the oldest of five siblings along with Jan, Merrilee, Wendy and Kirsten among a community of many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends nearby.

Marsha was a voracious reader of books, magazines, newspaper articles, obituaries and any written word that piqued her interest. She was the self-appointed ambassador of Morgan County, forging meaningful relationships in the hundreds stretching around town and beyond. To meet her was to enjoy the epitome of genuine interest - as she learned and could rapidly recall details big and small of every person she met.

Marsha’s life was full of music, starting every day in recent years with marching tunes to get her feet moving with her beloved dog Tenzin. She belted ABBA songs and loved to tell the story of when she took her grandma, sisters and kids to see Elvis Presley perform in Las Vegas. Marsha traveled far and wide with frequent trips to Yuma, Arizona to spend time in the warmth with her sister Wendy, a family train trip around Europe in the 1970s, a trip to Paris with her sister Kirsten and brother-in-law Curt, and to Nova Scotia, Canada and Prince Edward Island – a journey that left an indelible mark on her. She loved Greek food and considered savory cheese and crusty bread a gourmet meal. She took pride in her two children, and doted on her four grandchildren - adoring when they called to chat with her or picked her up to shop in Salt Lake and Ogden. A talented family storyteller, she idolized her parents and was joyous at the prospect of reuniting with them and all her relatives in the afterlife.

Marsha spent the bulk of her career in civil service positions with two stints at Hill Air Force Base covering a total of 17 years and 18 years with Morgan County in human resource and court clerk roles. She also spent significant time in elected and volunteer roles with the Morgan School District School Board, Morgan City Council and Davis Technical College. She delved deep into family history as a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and relished her time in the Morgan Literary Club. She served as Utah’s AARP Women’s Issues Specialist and most recently was a board member in her second home, the Morgan County Library.
