Marvene Adelle Cook was born on October 9, 1931, in Glendale, California. She left us on April
12, 2026, in Provo, Utah. Marvene spent her formative years in California and later moved to
Utah in her retirement years. She married her beloved husband, Lynn Noble Cook, on
November 4, 1950, in Burbank, CA, at the height of the Korean War. Two weeks after on his
leave from the army, they were sealed in the Mesa, AZ temple. Marvene's life was marked by
her resilience and strength. She lost her mother at a tender age of 10, after which she spent five
years in foster care and boarding school. Eventually, her mothers' sister, Freida and her
husband Bert Kibre took her in, treating her as their own daughter.
Marvene was a devoted wife and loving mother. She majored in Fashion Design at Woodbury
College and had an exemplary talent in sewing and could draft patterns and create original
designs. Her immaculate housekeeping skills kept her home warm and welcoming. Marvene
was also deeply involved with her church, serving in numerous positions throughout the years.
Despite the various roles she played in her life, her family was always what mattered most to
her. Marvene is survived by her daughters Wendy (John) Magrath, Robin (David) Johnson and
Cheryl Cook. She also leaves behind a legacy of eight grandchildren and nineteen
great-grandchildren.
Marvene was preceded in death by her husband Lynn N. Cook, her father Marvin Weir, and her
mother Bernice Shriner. Visitation will be held at Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 North University
