Mary K. Tierney age 90, passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, at The Retreat at Sun River, an Assisted Living & Memory Care Facility in St. George, Utah. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 20, 1935, to Walter G. and Christine Pearson.

She was a graduate of Ohio State University in home economics and fashion merchandising. She later became a personnel manager in industrial relations for several corporations and a hospital. She married John Tierney in 1970 in Los Angeles, California and they retired in Utah in 2007.

Mary is survived by a son, Jonathan of Orange, California and a daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law, Eric Petersen of Trabuco Canyon, California providing Mary and John with 5 grandchildren.

While in California, she and her daughter were in the National Chairty League. In St. George, she was a very active member of the Assistance League which provided back-to-school clothing and supplies to children in need. She also knit hundreds of eagerly sought after stocking caps for them. She was an accomplished quiltmaker providing quilts to several organizations to assist in fundraising.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 16, 2026, at the El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Rd. in Lake Forrest, California. 949-951-8244.
