Our beloved Mary Lou Dixon joyfully reunited with her Heavenly Father on December 27, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary Lou passed away peacefully in her home in West Weber, Utah, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, having blessed this world with 66 years of love, service, and compassion.
Mary Lou was born to Matthew and Miriam Lavender on September 4, 1958. She is survived by her siblings, George Lavender and Julie Lambert, who, like her, shared in many cherished family memories.
On January 12, 1984, Mary Lou was sealed to her devoted husband, Tom, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Mary Lou’s legacy continues through her four children—Matthew (Tatjana), Thomas, Christina (Brian), and Justin—and her six-and-a-half treasured grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Mary Lou dedicated her career as an elementary school counselor to guiding and uplifting children. Her kindness, empathy, and care for others touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues.
Mary Lou's faith guided her daily life, and she found great fulfillment serving in the temple every week and a patron and temple worker. Above all, Mary Lou's greatest joy was her Savior and her family. She delighted in every moment spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also found peace and joy in the outdoors, cherishing time spent hiking and camping.
Friends, family, and all who knew Mary Lou will remember her warm smile, gracious spirit, unwavering dedication to caring for others, and her love for life’s many adventures. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, faith, and appreciation for the beauty of the world around us.
On January 2, a friend and family gathering will be held between 12-12:45 followed by a memorial service at 1pm at 4100 W 900 S Ogden, Utah to celebrate Mary Lou’s life and her many contributions to her family and community.
