Micah “Scott” Stahle

May 25, 1959 ~ October 2, 2024

Micah “Scott” Stahle, stepped gently through the veil surrounded by his family on October 2, 2024, in Washington, Utah. He fought a valiant and courageous battle of pancreatic cancer before returning to the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, and many loved ones on the other side of the veil. Scott was 65 years old. He was born on May 25, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard Gail Stahle and Shirley Ann Hall.

Growing up in Bountiful, Utah, Scott graduated from Viewmont High School in 1977. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in Madrigals and played the alto saxophone in the marching band. He served an honorable mission in the Boston Massachusetts Mission from 1978 to 1980. He met and married his loving eternal sweetheart, Leslie Ann Babcock, on November 10, 1981, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Scott worked for the family printing business from a very young age. He then worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield in their printing division for several years. Next he was hired as the head pressman for the Church’s printing Division where he worked for 13 wonderful years. He loved setting color for the Church magazines and printing the scriptures, and church material in many languages. He had a gift and talent for blending colors to make the exact shades that were required for the church to sign off on. Characteristic of his unwavering loyalty, Scott returned to the family business where he stayed until he retired.

Family meant everything to Scott. He loved His family dearly. He taught them the gospel in every setting of his home. His love of the scriptures and his deep testimony of the Savior’s atonement was exemplified in the way he lived as he ministered to others, and as he expressed his love of the Savior. His words and actions were a light and example of the way he lived. He was always an example of Christ in everything he did.

Scott loved the simple things of life. He didn’t ask for much and didn’t need much. In his earlier years he loved gardening and would spend hours in his huge garden. He definitely had a green thumb and kept all of our plants alive. He learned this wonderful trait from his grandma and grandpa Hall. Scott loved to sing and he sang in many ward and stake choirs. He and his brother sang in a barber shop quartet. Scott and his father and brother would sing in the community choir at Christmas, singing Handel’s Messiah. Scott loved to play tennis, baseball and basketball. He helped coach his younger brothers on their baseball teams and later coached his own children in baseball and soccer.

Being a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Scott served in the Bishopric, High Council, High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Teacher, Primary Teacher, Scout Committee Leader, Young Men’s Presidency and many more callings. Scott loved his ancestors and served them with every fiber of his being. He was meticulous at finding their names and completing their work. He and Leslie have deep testimonies of temple work and the blessings that are received in the House of the Lord. Scott and Leslie loved being ordinance workers and shift coordinators for the St. George and Red Cliffs Utah Temples.

Scott is survived by his wife of 42 years, Leslie; children, Micah Stahle Jr. (Marissa); Stephen Stahle (Brynn); Mikayla Oldroyd (Carson); grandchildren Elaina, Stiles, and Gideon with 2 more precious grandchildren on the way.

He is lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Richard Stahle Jr. (Ann); Sheila Powell (Hayes); Lorie Matern (Mitch); Reed Stahle (Julie); David Stahle (Carol); Clark Stahle (Jen); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His in-laws Calvin and Annette Babcock will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents Gail and Shirley, son Spencer, daughter Sarah, and brother in law, Mark Babcock.

A Viewing will be held Thursday, October 10th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary located at 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 12th at 11:00 am with viewing from 9:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 3167 East 1140 South, St. George, Utah. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery, east side of the baseball field, following the services Saturday.
