Michelle Mitchel

May 10, 1973 Aug 30, 2022

Michelle Mitchell was a compassionate aunt, daughter, sister, friend, and person She left this world after a long battle with diabetes on Tuesday August 30th, 2022.

She was born May 10th, 1973, in Provo, UT and was preceded in death by her father David Robert Mitchell, his wife Donnetta Mitchell and her beloved Grandpa Max and his wife Ruth Diamond. Her mother Diane Shedden currently lives with her husband Wesley in Casper, WY. Michelle had three nieces, Ashley, Katie, and Jaycee and one nephew Max. She also had two great nephews Brayden and Andre, all of whom she loved and spoiled very much.

From the time Michelle was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13, Michelle’s mother Diane provided her with countless hours of support and care while helping her navigate this illness. She was a valiant warrior in her fight against the debilitating disease of diabetes. She spent years working with her healthcare team to control the disease and recover her health. Because of this time spent with her gastral healthcare team; Michelle wanted to offer a warm and heartfelt “Thank you.” to Dr. Nathan Richards and her home care nurses Marci and Kali for providing her with excellent care. They all went above and beyond in their jobs to ensure her comfort and wellbeing throughout her arduous illness.

Although she had help from many different people over the course of her illness, Michelle was most grateful to her best friend Angie Blackburn who stood by her side throughout her many trials. Angie was the most amazing partner in crime and provider and gave her love and safety as they fought side by side. Angie embodied the true meaning of friendship as she held Michelle’s hand through all the hard times they faced together and laughed with her throughout the many years of boundless memories. Michelle loved sitting on the porch, playing games, and going on an adventure with her best friend.

Michelle was a beautiful soul that loved with all her heart. There wasn’t a day that went by where she didn’t say “I freaking love you!” She loved being with all her friends and family. Through the years she went on adventurous trips, met amazing new people, and enjoyed going to concerts. She also enjoyed staying at home, reading, and listening to her books, taking naps and snuggling with her dog Maycee, and watching Christmas hallmark movies (no matter what time of year).

Prior to her passing, and instead of funeral services, Michelle was the princess at her Celebration of life party, hosted by Angie, and with the closest family and friends at their home in Lehi, UT. However, for friends and family wishing to remember Michelle, please feel free to send any condolences Angie Blackburn in Lehi. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation as this was an important organization to Michelle.
