Mina Lorraine Slack Condie, known lovingly to family and friends as Lorraine, passed away on August 31, 2026, in St. George, Utah, from natural causes. She was born on September 7, 1938, in Toquerville, Utah, and lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, faith, and steady service to those she loved.

Lorraine was the daughter of Augustus Paul Slack and Minnie Platt Slack. She grew up with a strong sense of family and responsibility that remained with her throughout her life. Those who knew her remember her as a woman of grace and warmth, someone who met life with quiet strength and a generous heart. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faith was an important part of her life and guided the way she cared for others, served her community, and loved her family. Although she served in many capacities, she was in her element in compassionate service.

She was educated at Hurricane High School and later attended Dixie State University. Her education helped prepare her for a life of meaningful work and service. Lorraine worked as a nurse at Dixie Regional Hospital, where she cared for others with compassion and professionalism. She also served as an office manager and dental assistant for Dr. Hamilton. In addition to her employment, she was known for volunteering as a caregiver to close friends and neighbors, offering comfort and practical help whenever it was needed. Her life was a reflection of service, and she gave of herself freely and without hesitation.

Lorraine was married to her husband and later in life sealed in the St. George temple. She was married to Bill for 64 years, he preceded her death January 10, 2026. Together, they built a family that remained the center of her life. She is survived by her children and beloved stepdaughters: Carl Condie (Michelle), John Kevin Condie (Stacey), Michelle Condie, Debra Leatham, and Cheryl Piper Kirby. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and the cherished great-grandmother of 18 great-grandchildren, who were among her greatest joys and blessings. Her family was the heart of her world, and she treasured every gathering, every conversation, and every opportunity to share time with them.

Lorraine had many talents and interests that brought happiness to those around her. She loved cooking and baking for her family, and many of her recipes are still used today by friends and loved ones who remember the comfort and delight of her kitchen. She was especially known for her homemade candy, and she took great joy in teaching her granddaughters how to make it. She also enjoyed crafts and, in her later years, found pleasure in making handmade cards. A regular and beloved activity was spending time in Pine Valley and working in the family garden, where she found peace in the beauty of nature and the satisfaction of tending what she loved.

She also had a wonderful sense of style and enjoyed fashion throughout her life. One of her favorite things to do was take her grandchildren shopping for new clothes and then share lunch with them afterward. These simple outings became treasured memories for her family, reflecting the thoughtfulness and joy she brought into everyday life. Lorraine had a special way of making others feel loved and remembered, and her presence brought comfort and happiness to many.

Lorraine will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her loving spirit, and the many ways she nurtured those around her. She lived with kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she shared, the traditions she passed down, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Services will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. The viewing will start at 9:30am-10:30am and the funeral service at 11:00am. Interment will follow the services at the Santa Clara Cemetery.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Advance Hospice, mainly Peter and his amazing staff for not only caring for Bill and Lorraine in their final departure from this earth but the constant care and support of the family.

We also would like to thank Primrose Assisted Living for their daily vigilance, love and care through her last months offering dignity and care in her last moments. Their thoughtful kindness expressed and shown by staff to our family will not be forgotten.
