Myrlene Ivie Lytle

Sep 13, 1937 Jun 21, 2026

Our beautiful, beloved Mother, Grammie, Grammie the Great, Sister, Daughter, and Friend, Myrlene Ivie Lytle, 88, returned peacefully to her Father in Heaven on June 21, 2026, in Tooele, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.

Myrlene's life was one of devotion and faith in Jesus Christ, service in church callings, love of the scriptures, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy of service, charity, love and compassion, forgiveness, loyalty, and weekly Thursday temple service will bless her posterity for generations.

Myrlene was born on September 13, 1937, in Scipio, Utah, to Ferron and Evelyn Ivie. She was the oldest of five children—three sisters and one brother—all of whom she adored. She was a Daddy's girl, and that was especially evident as she passed away on Father's Day.

Myrlene was a cheerleader and graduated from Millard High School in 1955. She loved fashion and she was always found wearing beautiful jewelry (some of which she made herself), painted nails, high heels, and lipstick.

She was an accomplished seamstress, crafting countless garments for men, women, children, and dolls—everything from prom dresses to mission quilts for her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. An avid reader, Myrlene often helped her grandchildren with their school book reports. One entire wall in her home, along with the front of her refrigerator, was filled with family pictures—photos she treasured deeply and always loved to share with every new guest. She enjoyed her regular hikes up Black Hill to the "D" and visiting with her neighbors on the way home.

In 1957, Myrlene married Clinton Lytle, and they were married for 38 years. At the age of 60, she was called to serve a full-time mission in the England London Mission, which was such a highlight in her life. She loved going on long rides and sharing how wonderful it was to grow up in Scipio, surrounded by family, especially the time she spent with her teasing uncles, whom she adored.

Myrlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ferron and Evelyn Ivie, and her sisters, Gayla Dawne Staheli Hannig and Tamara Cannon. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Phillips, and her brother, Kurt Ferron Ivie.

Myrlene cherished her three children and loved them deeply, reminding them of that often. She is survived by Michelle (Cory) Fry, Stephanie (Troy) Atkin, and Shaun (Mitzi) Lytle; 11 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Myrlene will be remembered for her many teachings: Have faith in Jesus Christ, pray always, believe in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, and always keep moving forward. She had an unwavering love for her family and friends. Mom will be deeply missed. We know that our mother's journey continues in a place filled with light, peace, and joyful reunions.

A viewing will be held in Myrlene's honor at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah, on June 29, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah, at 11:00 a.m.
