Ormon Wilkins Mitchell—a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and an enduring appreciation for the simple blessings of home.

Ormon was born on November 14, 1934, in Roosevelt, Utah, the third son born to Gladys and Seymour Mitchell. When he was just three years old, his family moved to Southern Utah, the place that would forever hold his heart.

From an early age, Ormon developed a love for horses and dogs, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He enjoyed being outdoors and embraced the values of hard work and dedication. As a young man, he worked in his family's Pepsi plant, where he remained until he married. During his high school years, he was active in sports, playing on the tennis team and enjoying basketball, reflecting both his competitive spirit and his love of being with others.

At the age of 21, Ormon married the love of his life, Fawn Gubler, a rodeo queen from Santa Clara, Utah. Together they began their life in Southern California, where Ormon worked as a lineman for the phone company, climbing poles and installing telephone lines. It was demanding work that suited his strong work ethic and determination.

But no matter where life took them, their hearts longed for the red mountains, open spaces, and the closeness of family. They returned to Southern Utah, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their four cherished children: Rex, Kristine, Mary Ann, and Bryce.

Family was the center of Ormon’s world. Some of the happiest memories were made at the family cabin in Pinto, a place filled with laughter, hard work, stories, and time together. Those years created traditions and memories that will continue to be treasured by generations to come.

Ormon lived a life of quiet strength. He showed his love not only through words, but through his example—by working hard, caring deeply, and always making time for the people who mattered most. He found joy in family, in the land he loved, and in the animals that had been dear to him since childhood.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Diamond Valley, Utah, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion. He is survived by his four children and his fifteen grandchildren and his many grate grandchildren. He was Welcomed home by his loving wife Fawn and his grandson Zachary Cleveland on July 30, 2026.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 6 at Spilsbury Mortuary from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Veyo Cemetery.
