Patsy Marie Brown Buchi

Jan 2, 1946 Mar 12, 2025

Patsy Marie Brown Buchi, 79, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, due to congestive heart failure. She was born on January 2, 1946, in Stafford County, Kansas to Harrison Morris and Lucille Pauline Brown and was the New Year’s Baby. Patsy was the oldest with brothers Hank & Jimmy joining their family.

She married Richard Hall Buchi in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 18, 1966. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and family, raising three children: Richard Paul, John Eric, and Janice Marie.

Patsy was born into a good Christian family and was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when her family moved to Larned, Kansas. Missionaries often held church services in their home. After two years of thoughtful investigation, Patsy and her father were baptized on February 12, 1955. She faithfully served in many church callings, including in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations. She and Richard also served as temple workers at the Bountiful Temple for five years and later as ward missionaries in the Bountiful Second Ward.

Patsy’s education included attending Skyline High School in Salt Lake City where she graduated after her family moved from Salina, Kansas and Nebraska. She then completed business school at Steven Henager’s Business College. Her father’s hope for her to date and marry a returned missionary led the family to Utah where she met Richard after an Institute dance at the University of Utah.

She worked in a variety of roles using her business skills, including at Gene Bangerter Plumbing in Woods Cross, the Department of Agriculture in the Federal Building, and in Administrative Services at the Utah State Capitol under Governors Leavitt, Walker, Huntsman, and Herbert. She loved sharing special memories with her family at the Capitol's Halloween and Christmas parties.

Traveling brought Patsy great joy, especially accompanying Richard on his work trips around the world. She cherished their annual trips to Branson to see their favorite musical performers. December was a special time for her filled with Christmas plays, concerts, and family traditions. She loved visiting Disneyland with her family whenever possible.

Patsy had many hobbies including collecting bears of all kinds, cross-stitching beautiful gifts for loved ones, and meticulously maintaining family scrapbooks. She had an eye for fashion, always dressing nicely with fun costume jewelry. She especially loved shopping at Brighton and was heartbroken when the Farmington Station store closed.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Elevation Hospice, especially Angie Lebaron and Lexie Teerlink, and Fairfield Village Memory Care, for their compassionate care during her final months.

Patsy is preceded in death by her husband Richard; son, John Eric; parents, Morris and Lucille Brown; and brothers Hank and Jimmy Brown. She is survived by her children Paul and Janice (Steven Burke); grandchildren Micah John, Hayden Scott (Kaitlyn), Harrison Carter, Bailey Buchi, Brandon Douglas (Kelsie), Taylor Steven (Tegan), Mitch Reed (Jaidin), and Janelle Marie (Kade); and great-grandchildren Dallas, Evie, Everett, Tate, Jack, Natalie, Ruth, and Lenore (with two more on the way).

Funeral services will be held March 19, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at the Barton Creek Ward, 640 S 750 E, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:00 prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Millcreek, Utah.
