Paul James Van Leeuwen

1959-2021

Paul (61) of Midvale, UT passed away peacefully on Feb 3, 2021, surrounded by his family, to join our Heavenly Father. Paul was born in Salt Lake City, UT to James Melvin Van Leeuwen and Virginia Rae Van Leeuwen on March 11, 1959. He was the oldest of their 5 children. Paul grew up in Emigration Canyon and later moved to the Sandy area. He was a passionate and skilled craftsman who worked in construction for over 40 years, building many incredible homes. In 1981 he met his wife Teddi Howell and they were married in the Salt Lake City temple in the spring of 1986. They had 6 children together (Nick, Dustyn, Carly, Kason, Skyler and Kenzi). Paul was a great father who was always there for his children and anyone who needed help. Paul loved teaching the Elders Quorum and his lessons are talked about to this day. He spent some time in the oil fields of North Dakota and made amazing friendships there. Paul enjoyed camping, fly-fishing, and loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed history and astronomy and had a wealth of knowledge. He loved to take his kids to star parties and always found a good view to watch a thunderstorm roll in. Paul had a huge impact on everyone he came in contact with. His love and humor will be dearly missed.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents James Melvin Van Leeuwen and Virginia Rae Van Leeuwen and father-in-law Ted J. Howell. He is survived by his wife Teddi and children Nick, Dustyn, Carly, Kason, Skyler, and Kenzi and his siblings Ralyn (Keith) Pearce, Terrel (Sonya) Van Leeuwen, Steven (Dianne) Van Leeuwen, and Julie (Marc) Jentzsch.
