It is with very heavy hearts that my wife Kari and I announce the death of our daughter, Randi Rachelle Johnston on the night of December 2, 2025. She was pronounced dead in the early morning hours of the following day.
Randi was a loving mother to her son, Conner Hollingshead, devoted wife, adored daughter and a little sister. Our little “Peanut” was born to us in Nashua, New Hampshire. She is the youngest of our two daughters. We moved to Utah in 1991 right around Randi’s first birthday. Utah was her home, and she graduated from Riverton Highschool’s Class of 2008.
In Randi’s adulthood she experienced two horrific tragedies that ultimately cost her her life. She lost much of her voice to her first accident. But as many of you know she was very resilient, and sprung back quickly. Even after being struck by a second trauma, less than a year after the first, she was able to bounce back with a great attitude, a cheerful disposition, and a positive outlook on life.
Randi only wanted the best for everyone. She wanted those around her to be happy. And, she wanted and deserved to be happy herself. She valued herself, and others, equally, and was always willing to go the extra bit to make sure that the next person felt acknowledged, heard, accepted and cared for. Her smile was infectious, her personality was magnetic, and she carried herself with a dignity and poise not common in this world.
She loved fishing and camping, spending time outdoors with her family and friends. She was very close to her paternal great-grandmother, Kay. And, to her maternal grandparents, Jon & Jerry Axtman, all of whom had huge impacts on her life. She adored her older sister, KayeDee, and loved to be surrounded by her aunts, uncles and cousins and our extended “tribe” of card players and friends, all of whom loved her and enjoyed her company. She was a canny Texas Hold’em opponent who won a lot of well-deserved pots, and we shared a lot of laughs playing, joking and being together while she was here. Good times experienced, that will always be remembered and cherished.
Randi leaves behind her son Conner Hollingshead, husband “J” and his four children Ava, Kayson, Jace, and Jaden; parents Kari and Fred Johnston and sister KayeDee, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends who will truly miss her. Though she is gone now, her light remains in our hearts and we’ll carry her with us, always. Good-bye, for now, Peanut. See you in the next life. Your Mommy and Daddy miss you terribly every single day.
A celebration of life was held with close family and friends, Friday March 6th, 2026.
