In Memoriam: Raymond J. Abeyta
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond J. Abeyta, who peacefully departed this life on March 27, 2025, at his home in West Valley City, Utah, at the age of 84. Raymond was born on April 14, 1940, and was preceded in death by his oldest son, Eddie Abeyta.
Raymond was a highly regarded professional, known for his expertise as a sprinkler system specialist and heavy industrial operator. He retired in 1999 after a distinguished career, leaving behind a legacy marked by dedication, skill, and integrity. Throughout his career, Raymond was admired for his unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence, which earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Raymond was a devoted and loving grandfather. He took great pride in his role as a caregiver and provider for his grandchildren, Ricardo Cornejo and Gabriel Cornejo. His love for them was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Raymond’s deep devotion to his family was a defining aspect of his character.
Raymond is survived by his two sons, Paul Sr. and George Abeyta; his brother, Zevedeo Abeyta (Pat Abeyta); his nephew, Candido Abeyta (Pat Abeyta); his grandson, PJ Abeyta; as well as his close family members, Victor Manuel Cornejo and Graciela Rubio. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Ricardo Cornejo and Gabriel Cornejo. Raymond’s absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A viewing will be held in his honor on April 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at West Valley Memorial Park and Funeral Home, located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120. A Catholic service will follow at 2:00 PM, with funeral services at the same location. Interment will take place at West Valley Memorial Park.
Raymond’s life was characterized by dedication, love, and unwavering integrity. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire those who loved him.
