Reed Crockett Hull

Jul 24, 1951 Mar 26, 2025

Born on Pioneer Day, July 24, 1951, Reed entered this world on a day that celebrates strength, determination, and legacy—qualities that would define his entire life. He was an East High School graduate, continuing a family tradition that both his mother and later his daughters would follow. His high school friendships were built to last, with those same friends remaining by his side throughout his life's journey.

On a magical New Year's Eve in 1973, he met Pamela Leavitt, the woman who would become the love of his life. They married just a year later in January 1975, beginning a partnership that would span five remarkable decades. Their family was completed with the blessing of two daughters, Jennnifer (Ashton) and Stephanie (Busby)—different as we may be, we were both deeply loved.

Dad's entrepreneurial spirit led him to California with his brothers, where they built VitalLawn from the ground up. For 16 years, he served as owner and CEO, pouring his dedication and work ethic into making the business thrive. In 1993, Utah called him home, where he reinvented himself professionally, following his passion for computers into the IT field. He eventually retired from Health Catalyst as a DataBase Administrator at age 70, having showcased his versatility through careers ranging from mechanic to lawn care to information technology.

Yet through all his professional accomplishments, his highlight was always his family. He was a dedicated husband to Pam for 50 years, a devoted father, and a fantastic Papa to his nine grandchildren. His love of Disney became our family's shared joy, with Disney World being his favorite vacation destination—the place he chose to celebrate his golden wedding anniversary just a couple of months ago.

For the past 20 years, he battled rheumatoid arthritis with quiet courage. Despite the physical pain he endured, he remained steadfast and remarkably strong. When he returned to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1990’s, something profound changed in him. His faith didn't just become a part of his life; it became the lens through which he saw the world.

Being sealed as an eternal family in the temple wasn't just a ceremony for him—it was a profound promise of love and connection that transcended earthly suffering. For years, he dedicated himself to serving in bishoprics and leadership roles, viewing each responsibility as a sacred trust. He dedicated 6 years to serving in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His commitment to his faith gave him something remarkable—a complete absence of fear about death. He knew, with absolute certainty, that our family's bonds were eternal.

He taught us that strength isn't about never feeling pain, but about how you choose to move forward despite it. He showed us what commitment looks like—to a spouse, to family, to faith, and to facing life's challenges with dignity.

Though he was only 73, his life was full of love, perseverance, and a profound spiritual journey. We will miss him deeply, but we are comforted by his unwavering belief that we will be together again.
