Rexine Gardner Waldron Rowley

Sep 30, 1932 May 28, 2025

Rexine Gardner Waldron Rowley passed away on May 28, 2025, at her home in St. George, Utah. She was born on September 30, 1932, in St. George, Utah, the fourth child of Rex and Nettie Whitehead Gardner. She grew up in St. George in the winters and Pine Valley in the summers where her father farmed and raised cattle. She loved Pine Valley and hearing stories of her ancestors who settled the Dixie area, making great sacrifices.

Rexine graduated from Dixie Jr. College and completed her degree in Elementary Education at the University of Utah in 1954. She taught school in California and later moved to Utah where she met her husband, LuDell Waldron. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1963. They raised their five children in Twin Falls, Idaho. Rexine worked part-time teaching in the GED and Adult Basic Education programs at the College of Southern Idaho. Twin Falls became home to her, but she never forgot her strong roots in St. George and Pine Valley. When LuDell passed in 2005, she returned to "Dixie", married a former schoolmate, Vernon "Con" Rowley, and spent the remainder of her time there. She and Con served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Hampshire. They also served in the St. George Temple together and she continued serving for several years after his passing.

Rexine loved Con's 7 children and 26 grandchildren as her own. She loved being with all her children, grandchildren, sisters, and friends. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and served faithfully in many church positions. Her love for primary children and the primary songs brought joy throughout her life. Her love of music provided a challenge and contentment when she resumed piano lessons in her late 80s. One of the highlights of her days was morning walks with friends. These close friends became known as the "Twalkers" and were like family to her.

Rexine is survived by her children, Karen (Francisco Cuesta) Elizabeth, NJ; Larry Rex (Beth) Waldron, Layton, UT; LaRene (Mark Green) Morgan Hill, CA; Brent Gardner (Rebecca) Waldron, Lehi, UT; Janet (Ruel Parent) Sunnyvale, CA; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Rae Frye, Brawley, CA; Mary Esther Putnam, Pine Valley, UT. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wendell, and sister, Ora Lee McMullin.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Utah Tech's Institute for Continued Learning or the Humanitarian Fund for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
