Richard "Rick" Steven Owens

Mar 25, 1959 Apr 15, 2025

Richard “Rick” Steven Owens, age 66, passed away on April 15, 2025, in his home in West Valley City, Utah. He was born on March 25, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Fred Owens & Marilyn Joyce Tavey.

Rick married his childhood sweetheart, Jamie, on July 27, 1998. With this marriage, he gained a son, a daughter, and five grandsons. Little did he know this would turn the "rough and tough" man that everyone knew into a big, giant softie.

After holding his first grandson, his heart melted. After each grandchild was born, his heart melted more and more. He said his greatest achievement in life was being able to be a dad and grandpa.

Rick enjoyed the great outdoors, especially camping with his family, boating, fishing, and hunting. He was an avid treasure hunter, taking his metal detector everywhere. He was always ready for an adventure or a new project. He cherished time with his grandkids. He was a jack of all trades and could create and build almost everything.

Rick is survived by his wife, Jamie Owens; son Matthew (Krystal) Haslam; daughter Alisha (Jason Youngs); brothers Michael Owens, Kent Owens; sister Cori (Mark) Urry; grandchildren Dominik, Connor, Mason, Karson, Kooper, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Marilyn J. Owens, and his brother Robert Owens.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. You may visit with the family before services from 10:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will be held after services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at the same address.
