Robert Earl Wilson, 91, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed peacefully through the veil on October 3, 2024. He was born November 27, 1932, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Earl and Violet Wilson. He married his beloved Ida in the Logan temple on April 1, 1960. Together they have eight children, 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Robert, a veteran of the Korean War, served proudly in the United States Army. Following his military service, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission.

Robert and Ida graduated together with BS degrees in 1962 from Brigham Young University, then went to American Samoa for three years as high school teachers at Mapusaga High School. Robert earned a MS degree from BYU, and from the University of Missouri a second MS and EdD degree. He was the Director of Vocational Programs in secondary and post-secondary schools and colleges in Missouri, Colorado and Oregon. Robert owned and operated a construction company in Colorado, an assisted living facility in Oregon, along with a property management business in Oregon and Utah.

Robert was a true and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many capacities including Ministering brother, Scout Master, Stake Missionary, High Councilor, Bishop, Patriarch and Temple worker. Together with Ida, they served a two-year CES mission among the Dine on the Navajo Reservation. Robert was a true and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. He was passionate about family history and worked diligently on his family genealogy throughout his life. Robert’s hobbies were skiing, biking, sail boating, camping, reading and family history. He also enjoyed fix-it projects for family members and others.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and oldest child, Jeanette Sarah Wilson. He is survived by his spouse, Ida, his only sibling, brother, Richard James Wilson, daughter Lynnette Violet (Bob) Meek, sons David Merrill (Mikki) Wilson, Matthew Clark (Amy) Wilson. Gary Robert (Melissa) Wilson, Steven Lewis (Susan) Wilson and daughters Susan Katherine (Caleb) Heap and Diane Maria (Ryan) Creamer, 27 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, 2615 E Stringham Ave, Salt Lake City, UT, followed by Military Honors. Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm at the church and Friday morning prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Deweyville City Cemetery in Deweyville, Utah.
