Our dear husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and great-great grandpa passed on June 28th, 2022, surrounded by family. Robert, (Bob), a prominent Sanpete County resident, was born July 10, 1929, in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Merrill N. and Lurena Warnick.
Bob was the second son and fourth child in a family of four boys and four girls. He was raised and worked on the family dairy farm through his formative years. Bob was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire life.
Bob graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1948 where he was active in the Boy Scouts and 4H.
Bob attended Brigham Young University before serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada.
After returning home Bob met Carol Porter. After courtship they were married and sealed together on July 1st, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their 69th wedding anniversary on July 1st was just three days after Bob’s June 28th passing.
While at BYU, Bob also completed ROTC training. He graduated from the College of Agriculture at BYU with a bachelor degree. Bob then continued his Air Force training. Bob transferred to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois where he trained in communications. As a First Lieutenant in the Air Force, he was transferred to Japan.

He was honorably discharged from active service as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Later, in 1966 he was honorably discharged from the Reserves as a Captain.
Bob attended Utah State University and received a Master of Science in Dairy Husbandry. He worked at the Utah State University Poultry Farm while he then pursued a Doctorate degree. He became an Associate Professor and Manager of the USU Poultry Farm. He was awarded his PHD from Utah State University in Animal Science.
In 1975, Bob became Director over the USU extension service poultry farm in Ephraim, Utah. His primary research was on turkeys and feed formulations. Throughout his career, Bob’s continued knowledge and research had great influence and effect on the national poultry industry by ensuring for the nutritional efficacy of feed formulations used by poultry growers.
Bob honorably served as Mayor of Ephraim for two terms from 1986 to 1993. Although Ephraim is a relatively small town in the state, Mayor Bob was elected President of the Utah League of Cities and Towns. Bob served on many state and national boards and committees as his civic and political influence was regarded.
Throughout his life, Bob served in many church callings, such as a counselor in a Bishopric, a Bishop, and counselor in a Stake Presidency.
In 1994, as Cambodia’s government granted legal recognition to The Church of Jesus Christ, Bob and Carol were some of the first missionaries specifically called to serve there. Their official humanitarian calling stated that they served in the Thailand Bangkok Cambodian mission. Bob was asked to better establish a poultry industry there.
Before and after their Church mission they served as Manti Temple workers. They also served as missionaries at the Ephraim LDS Institute at Snow College from 2002 to 2004. Bob remained engaged and active in church and civic activities up until his declining health prevented such.
Bob and Carol are parents to six children, Robert (Jill) Warnick, Debi (Jim) Eagar who both preceded Bob in death, Clark (Lisa) Warnick, Jon Warnick, Kelly (Julie) Warnick and Faylyn (Greg) Catmull. Their foster daughter is Carmelita Etsitty. They have 29 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held at the Ephraim Utah Stake Center at 400 East Center Street. There will be a Family Visitation there on Friday, July 8th from 6-8pm. There will also be a Family Visitation there prior to the Funeral on Saturday, July 9th, from 9:00 to 9:45 am. The Funeral will follow at 10:00 am. Graveside Services will then be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 500 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove, Utah at 2:00 pm.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Goodlife Senior Living in Mt. Pleasant, and Intermountain Home Care for the tender love and care they offered Bob during his struggle with Dementia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that everyone love their families to promote “beauty all around and love at home,” as Bob constantly showed by word and example.
