Roland D Hansen

Mar 22, 1948 Jun 17, 2025

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Roland Durrant Hansen, 77, passed away surrounded by family into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on June 17, 2025, from a brain bleed sustained after a fall.

He was born March 22, 1948, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Andrew Peter Hansen and Agnes Lucy Durrant. He served an LDS mission in the California North Mission. He married the love of his life, Shannon Anine Bryner in the Provo Utah Temple on April 20, 1973. He graduated from BYU with a master's degree in accounting, and shortly after received his CPA certificate. He worked for the accounting firm Elmer Fox & Company, then as a division controller for El Paso Natural Gas. He retired after working as an oil and gas auditor for the State of Utah. He also held numerous church callings throughout his life.

Those who knew Roland will remember his gentle presence, sense of humor, abiding faith, deep sense of integrity, unwavering testimony, and Christlike love. He was patient in challenges, and endlessly supportive of those he loved. He always had a smile and loved to talk to everyone he met. He had a passion for playing ping pong, chess, and card games. He was a mathematician.

Roland is survived by his wife Shannon A. Hansen and their three children, Sean D. Hansen (Robyn), Roland S. Hansen (Jessica), and Melanie F. (Treaven) Grant. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, brothers Andy (Cheryl) Hansen and Lanny (Linda) Hansen, and a sister Bonnie (Tom) Mathews.

Preceded in death by brothers Dale, Duane, and Dwight, and sisters Cleone Spackman, Marva Morris, and Meredith Brown. We find peace in the knowledge that families can be together forever.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the many prayers offered on their behalf, also the compassionate service from the doctors at Heber Valley and Utah Valley Hospitals as well as the Applegate Hospice workers and Larkin Sunset Gardens.
