Ron was born December 9, 1940 in Alliance Ohio to Howell Sellers and May Cobb. He had two older sisters and an older brother. He was fortunate enough to live close to several nieces and nephews who were close to his age.
Ron graduated from Alliance High School. He married shortly after high school and had three boys Bill, Keith, and Ronald Jr.
In 1972 Ron moved to Salt Lake City Utah. He married LaDene Sweat of Center Creek (Heber City) Utah in 1974.
Ron had an exceptionally strong work ethic, and was never without employment. He began working at 6 years old with his father at their greenhouses. While living in Ohio he had a dairy farm and also hauled milk for Amish farmers. As a result he was very strong and was able to lift 2 -100 pound milk cans at the same time every day. Ron was a career long haul truck driver for 43 years. He drove 48 states as well as 4 Canadian Provinces. He was greatly admired by his fellow truckers and employers. He had a remarkable safety record and it is estimated he drove over 6 million miles. He was a great example and respected by anyone he came in contact with.
Ron and LaDene were married for 52 years and they adored each other. Ron was very close to LaDene’s family and spent a lot of time with them. He was able to drive them on several road trips. His father and mother in law were so grateful he was able to drive them to some eastern state to see religious sites, Amish country and Washington DC. Ron and LaDene have two children; Dalan and VaRonica whom he loved unconditionally. He worked hard to schedule his driving so he could attend their activities. Together Ron and LaDene have three grandchildren that were the light of his life. He loved spending a vast amount of time with them playing games and telling them his wild Poppa Ron stories.
Ron was very friendly and was able to make friends everywhere he was both on and off the road. Growing up Ron had many close friends several of whom have remained in contact weekly for the past 80 years. He had a fantastic sense of humor that he never lost even when he was very ill. Ron had an amazing memory remembering every road and truck stop even when he hadn’t been there for years.
Ron is survived by his wife LaDene. His children Dalan (Jessica) and VaRonica (Nathan). His grandchildren Quinn, Alice and Dean. His nieces, nephews and two brother in laws.
He was preceded in death by both is parents, LaDene’s parents, his son Bill, his three siblings, numerous brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was very grateful for all of the tremendous medical providers he has worked with through the past several years. His last several months working with Aspen Ridge Hospice was ideal for him and his family. He was also very thankful for 50 years of helpful and supportive neighbors.
