Sean Nelson, 32, passed away January 18, 2025. Though his life was taken too soon, we will always remember the gentle, sensitive, caring person that profoundly touched the lives of all who knew him. Sean died from addiction, a disease he struggled with most of his adult life. Though his absence has brought us unbearable pain, it has also made us cherish beautiful memories and appreciate the importance of connection. Sean was born and raised in Salt Lake City. He graduated from Skyline High School and attended SLCC.
Sean enjoyed music and the outdoors, especially hiking, swimming, skiing, camping, fishing, dirt biking in the sand dunes, and especially traveling. He dreamed of traveling the world. He was recently able to travel to New York and Washington DC with his favorite uncles, an adventure that he cherished. He loved watching basketball with his best friend Joe. Sean was a deep thinker; he had an inquisitive mind and read extensively. He was a whiz with computers and used that knowledge in the customer service industry to help others. Sean never hesitated to help others in need.
Sean is survived by his mother (Colleen), sister (Megan), uncles (Craig, Ali Reza, and Scott), cousins (Jill, Libby, and Theo), aunt (Marilyn), Godparents (Dan and Cate Adams), and his best buddy Joe. He is preceded in death by his father (Ron Nelson) and grandparents (Harry and Kay Nelson, John and Ruthann Stocks).
Though we would give anything to have him with us, we are comforted knowing he is free from pain and suffering. Family and friends will gather in the Spring to remember and celebrate Sean’s life.
If you can, we only ask that you honor and remember Sean in your own special way. View a sunrise or sunset, climb a mountain, walk your dog, play in the sand, watch a basketball game, catch a fish, carve a turn, plant a flower, light a candle, gaze at the stars, donate to your favorite charity, do an act of kindness for a stranger, call an old friend. Above all, care deeply, love greatly, and live your precious life with grace, purpose and passion. That is what Sean would wish for all of you.
