Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Shauna May Paxton, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Feb 27, 2025. Shauna was born on Feb 14, 1944 to Gayle and Leah Robertson and grew up in Pleasant Grove, Utah with her two older sisters, Bonnie and Judy.
Shauna attended Pleasant Grove High, graduating in 1962 as valedictorian of her class. She was also on the cheerleading squad.
Shauna married Mark M Wagstaff on 7 February 1964 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They spent 27 wonderful years together, raising their 5 children. Shauna was a great stay-at-home mother. She loved spending time with her children. She also loved to bake and was amazing at it. There were always warm delicious homemade desserts waiting for her family when they returned home from school/work. They later divorced.
In the early 1980’s, Shauna decided to start a career as a tax examiner at IRS, receiving many awards for the fastest and most efficient work. She transferred to Hill Air Force Base and worked as an item manager in the Aircraft division. She received many awards for outstanding performance in her job and loved working there until she retired in Jul 2008.
Shauna married Alan Curtis and enjoyed traveling with him to Saudi Arabia, Okinawa & Germany. They later divorced.
Shauna always enjoyed camping with her family. After she retired she purchased property at Sourdough Wilderness Ranch and spent many summers with her family there. She also loved to shop and was always dressed to the nines. She loved decorating her home and caring for her yard. She also enjoyed going to movies and out to dinner. Shauna loved spending time with her children, and grandchildren, she always made sure each of her family members knew how special they were to her and she loved spoiling them.
Shauna married Milton (Pat) Paxton and moved to West Valley until he passed away Jan 2018. After his passing, she moved back up to Roy to be closer to her children.
Shauna loved animals, especially dogs. She cared for many throughout her life and loved them all, especially Major who was her childhood dog and was always by her side.
She is survived by her sister, Judy Newman; her children, Gina (Steve) Patterson, Shawn (Julie) Wagstaff, Scott (Natalie) Wagstaff and Ryan Wagstaff. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Bonnie and her daughter Cheryl.
Shauna was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, her kind heart, compassionate spirit and unconditional love always left a positive impression on those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
God now has you in his arms, we will always have you in our hearts.
A private family viewing was held on Friday, 28 Feb. A service honoring Shauna’s life will be held Saturday, Mar 15 from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m. at The Midland 3rd Ward located at 3776 W 5375 S, Roy, UT 84067.
As a family, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Shaelee & all A Plus hospice staff and also to Ursula & the memory care staff at Sunridge Care Center who went the extra mile to comfort, love and care for Shauna, especially in her last months.
