Shirley C. Card McCandless passed away peacefully in SLC at age 96 on March 19th, 2025. She was born on March 12th, 1929 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. She married Geary A. McCandless, had five sons, and joined them in their motorcycling, hiking, and skiing adventures. She worked at YESCO Signs, sold real estate, and regularly volunteered at the Utah Symphony, the Jordan River Temple, or the Food Bank.

Shirley will be remembered for her unassuming nature, gentle kindness to everyone, and many decades of playing the organ. Gardening, painting, traveling, and having family and friends visit were her favorite activities.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Card, her ex-husband, Geary, and her grandson-in-law, Gabe Wauson. She is survived by her 5 sons, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 nephews, and their families.
