Susie was born on January 16, 1951, to goodly parents, Donald Ray Smith, and Margaret Evelyn Graves in Richmond, California and departed this life in St. George, Utah, with family at her side. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah in a loving home with two siblings who sacrificed much so she could have the best healthcare available. Susie graduated from East High School in 1969 and started her family soon after. She was blessed with three wonderful children and a growing posterity she loved beyond measure.
Susie’s most important calling in life was being a mother and grandmother, her children and grandchildren were her greatest accomplishment. Susie served her entire life as a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her church service was always to the Primary Children, where she served as Primary President, Music Leader, Scout Leader, and Primary Teacher, she loved children.
Susie was known for “secretly” delivering cookies to doorsteps when needed, taking dinner to friends, and remembering special occasions of those she loved. Susie endured a lifetime of trials but always remained cheerful. She could talk up a storm, whip up a batch of cookies, and make anyone feel important. Everything she did was done with a smile on her face.
The family wishes to thank the staff and friends at The Meadows at Escalante Assisted Living, for the countless hours of care and love they offered to Susie. Special thanks to Intermountain Health Hospice, especially the many RNs who provided her with compassionate care, love, and support. You all truly personify the light of Christ.
Susie is survived by her three children, Kelly W. Wilkins (Brooke), Kari R. Wilkins, and Todd S. Wilkins; eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; her “Other Mother” Beth Brcko-Smith and her sister Lynda Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. At Susie’s request, her viewing and service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please do something fun with those you love.
