It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Ann Hodson (Brady/Hatch). She passed peacefully on October 15, 2022, in Orem, Utah, surrounded by family, at the age of 74. She was born in Sacramento, California on June 26, 1948. She was raised there by adoptive parents, Sylvester and Helen Brady (both deceased), along with an adoptive brother, William Brady (deceased), who she admired deeply.
At 18, she found the love of her life, John Kent Hodson. They married December 31, 1966, in Sacramento and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Oakland Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in February 1968, along with their oldest son.
After years of earnest searching, she found her birth mother, Geraldine Burris, just a few years before Geraldine passed. Her birth father, Wallace Hatch, had passed years before. She was reunited with and lovingly embraced by many new siblings and a community that welcomed her home. Her siblings that survive her are Joyce Hatch Dozier, Ronald Hatch, Cheryl Kesler Mathews, Linda Kesler Orr, Shelly Kesler Morla, Sandy Kesler, and Audrina Harrison. She is preceded in death by her siblings Patricia Hatch, Ralph Hatch, Jerry Hatch, Betty Lou Hatch, and Dennis Hatch.
Sylvia is survived by her dear husband, six children and their spouses: Treaver and Diana, Treaci and John Tagg, Rebecka and Rand Croxall, Branddon and Kristy, Corbrett and Kerri, Cammeron and Jacki, 25 grandchildren and their spouses, and nearly 12 great grandchildren.
She loved family, her faith, browsing for the perfect gift, decorating for holidays (especially with bears and pigs), yellow roses, coloring, sewing, and watching old movies (especially starring John Wayne). She loved the ocean and returned to its beaches in Northern California every chance she could.
A funeral service to offer hope and celebrate life will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022, at 11:30AM at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home (646 E 800 N, Orem, UT 84097).
