Teri "Teri" Odermatt Burt

Apr 19, 1947 Apr 19, 2025

Our beloved sainted mother, wife, and friend, Teri Burt, has passed away. Teri struggled with Crohn’s disease her entire life, and despite cancer’s best efforts, it was Crohn’s that took her in the end. Two days before her birthday, a hospice worker told us she wouldn’t make it to her birthday, and Teri replied, “Watch me.” Teri made it to her birthday; we sang to her, and she passed away shortly after (hopefully not a reflection of our family’s singing ability).

Teri is survived by her husband, Grady R. Burt III; her sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Christina Burt, Matt and Machelle Burt, Ben and Keri Burt, Nate and Marie Burt, Dan and Ruth Burt; and her seven grandsons and seven granddaughters.

"You'll never regret being kind" -Teri Burt

She loved her sons with a love that only grew when her five daughters-in-law joined the family. Being a mom was what she was most proud of (even with how Dan turned out). Teri and Grady were together for nearly 55 years and during that time their love grew even more than the national debt. Just being together was one of their favorite hobbies, and they were very good at it.

Our family is grateful for the many people who have reached out, shared their love for her, and shown us kindness.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you show an extra kindness to someone else in her honor.
