It is with great disbelief and sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sweet mother, sister, aunt, grandma, and friend. On December 10th, 2022 Terrie Lynn Vreeland passed away peacefully in her loving home and returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Terrie was born April 13th, 1953 in Salt Lake City, UT to Angus Orson Finck and Donna Jean (Dupaix) Finck alongside her beloved twin sister “Sheshie”. Welcoming them both was their proud big sister Chris.
In her early twenties, Terrie married Kenneth Illguth. She struggled with infertility but in September of 1985 one of her greatest blessings came when she was able to adopt her loving daughter and best friend Suzie and then in April of 1988 she welcomed her devoted son Mikey. She was blessed with her last son Johnny in December 1993 born to her and her second husband Michael Vreeland. She also loved and supported Michael’s 8 children from his first marriage after his passing in February of 1999.
Though Terrie’s life was one of several hardships and trials she dedicated her life in sacrifice, and service. There wasn’t a day that passed that Terrie wasn’t looking for opportunities to reach out a helping hand of love and support to anyone in need. She was the most empathetic and loyal friend to so very many. She took so much pride in her family and her many grandchildren and nothing made her happier than spoiling them in any way she could! She loved to have sleepovers with the grandbabies and because they all wanted to sleep right next to Grandma she insisted on sleeping centrally on the floor so all of them could crowd in and cuddle up around her. I’m sure they were sleepless nights for her, but the memories and bonds she created with each of us will always be so cherished.
Terrie was a very dedicated and valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was always very committed to serving humbly in each of her many callings in the church. She served faithfully as a ministering sister to many, but we think her favorite of all was when she was able to serve as a Primary Teacher. She loved the relationships she created with each of the children in her classes and they loved having Sister Vreeland as a teacher. I’m sure each of them felt so much love from her. Her testimony never wavered and she taught each of her children the importance of living worthily and faithfully. She led each of us by her example and was the absolute greatest example of pure charity. She showed love to everyone.
Terrie is survived by each of her children Suzanne (Evan) Andreasen, Michael (Jana) Illguth, John Vreeland, her 8 step children Christine, Gina, Michele, Margret, Michael Jon, Matt, Tim, and Elizabeth. 18 Grandchildren, her sisters Christine (Jack) Olsen, and Sherrie (Lynn) Desmond, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Gus and Donna Finck, her husband Michael Vreeland, her niece Tracie Lee Desmond Cotton, and 2 very loved grand-puppies. We are so happy to know that she is now at peace and has been reunited with these loved ones and many others who passed before her. Our family is eternal and we’re so grateful to have the knowledge that we’ll be together again someday.
