Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend, Tonya Nicole Morrill Hamstra passed away unexpectedly on August 9, 2026.
She was born April 7, 1985 to Dianne and Doug Morrill. Tonya arrived on Easter Sunday, very much against her sister Raychelle’s wishes. Tonya was raised in Washington County, Utah, and all that came with it: wake boarding at Quail Creek, family camping trips in Pine Valley, and attending the annual Dixie Lion’s Round Up rodeo.
Tonya graduated in 2003 from Millcreek High School and attended Southern Utah University with a scholarship.
She married Josh “Yoshi” Hamstra on June 23, 2007 at the Relief Society House in Washington City. Together, they had two children, Braden and Natalia. One of Tonya’s greatest joys was being a mom.
A lover of dragons, science fiction and fantasy, Tonya was an avid reader. Tonya found her creative outlet working as a cake decorator at Harmon’s in St. George.
Tonya is survived by her husband, Yoshi, her children, Braden and Natalia, and her constant canine companion, Apollo. Tonya’s surviving relatives include her parents, Doug and Dianne Morrill; maternal grandparents EJ and Bea Foremaster; sister, Raychelle (Taylor) Fielding, their children: Spencer, Brooke and Emily; sister-in-law Brandy Pogue and her sons: Chance and Braxton; mother-in-law Susan Wheeler; as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents, Phyl Morrill and Karma Lund.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street. A visitation will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m. prior to services.
