Verl John Rollo

Jan 7, 1941 Jun 5, 2024

Verl John Rollo, son of Alden and Verda Rollo, and husband of Ilene Rollo, passed away on June 5 in his Spring City home. Verl was born in Huntsville, UT on January 5, 1941 and graduated from Weber High School. Verl grew up on a quaint farm and learned the art of nurturing and making things grow. The love and care he learned on the farm transcended to tending to the work of building up the loving family and home they created for their children and those they welcomed into their family. Verl’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He also enjoyed reading books, piecing together puzzles, and watching Westerns. In childhood, Verl was always a jokester and never lost that playful side. If there was a dark corner in the house, be careful, that dusty leftover Halloween mask might make a reappearance. Verl loved a good laugh and instilled that in his children, for better or worse! He was a lover of nature and in taking the scenic route in life.  Meandering road trips were common with Verl serenading passengers with his colorful musical repertoire.  The destination isn’t always as important as the experiences you pick up along the trail.

God doesn’t alway give us smooth sailing but does offer a warm homecoming.

Verl was no stranger to hard work and his work ethic started on the family farm. He served in the United States Army, earned his associate’s degree from Steven’s Henegar College and began a career in banking, working at First Security Bank, where he met his beloved wife of 56 years. Verl held other positions at various banks, Thiokol, and as a property manager. Verl was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and took great joy in serving as a branch president for an assisted living facility, member of the Bishopric, and ward clerk, among others. Verl will be remembered for his unfailing support and service to his family and friends.

Verl was preceded in death by his parents Alden and Verda, and a baby daughter, Tara. Verl is survived by his loving wife, H. Ilene Rollo (Devries), his brothers; Dale, Wayne, and Rex, his children; Tami Olsen (Kirk), Teri Christensen (Nolan), Bryan (Alicia), and Jeffrey (Sarah), his grandchildren; Jacob, Erica, Cody, Ali, Kameron, Katelyn, Shawn, Brayden, Braxton, Ashlyn, Louisa, and Timothy and his great grandchildren; Kayley-Ann, and Olivia.

Happy Trails Verl.  We love and miss you.

We want to thank all of the Rollos’ friends and neighbors in Spring City for their love and support.
