Verna Carlette (Measel) McCloy

December 5, 1961 - March 16, 2026

Verna C. McCloy, age 64, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on December 5, 1961, in Reno, Nevada, to Luanne E. Barrett and Vernon C. Measel.

Verna lived life with a spirit of adventure and a heart full of joy. From a young age, she loved music, singing, dancing, and spending time outdoors. Known as a true free spirit, Verna had a gift for bringing happiness to those around her. She was often the life of the party, always laughing, joking, and dancing with family and friends simply to see them smile. Her warm personality and vibrant energy left lasting memories for everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Verna also had a deep love for animals and found great joy in caring for dogs and cats throughout her life.

She left this world far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. As we mourn her passing and celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing that heaven has gained a beautiful soul. Until we meet again, her memory will live on in our hearts, and the love she shared will never be forgotten.

Verna is survived by her sister, Katherine Stancil; her brother, Donald Measel; half-sisters, Christine Measel Christensen; Lorraine Measel Sorochuk; her daughters, Tiffany and Lenna Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Patrick Reyes, Ahyla Daye, and Ryot R. McCloy; and her great-grandchildren, Milah, Ariah, and Azaleah Reyes.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Edith K. Deloy; her mother, Luanne Barrett; her father, Vernon Measel; her son, Dennis McCloy; and her granddaughter, Selaya.

A private family service will be held to honor and celebrate Verna McCloy’s life.
