Vicki Ann Bringhurst Fentermacher

Feb 16, 1944 Jun 24, 2025

On June 24th, 2025, Vicki Ann Bringhurst Fenstermacher went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long-fought battle with cancer. She was 81 years young.

She was born on February 16th, 1944, to Scott and Bea Bringhurst in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Sugar House and attended Highland High School and the University of Utah.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years, George C. Fenstermacher, her brothers, Scott Jr (Judi) and Rusty (Carolee), her children Jeff (Marianne), Julie (Danny), John (Rachell), Jenny (Andrew), and Bobby (Mandy), stepchildren Kevin and Anna (Michael), 21 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vicki was an active member and contributor to her church and faith. She served wherever she was needed from tending the coffee bar to working at a thrift store. She volunteered her time to guide young pregnant mothers as well as cutting hair and making blankets for the homeless. She truly was a self-less person that was driven to try and make the world a better/kinder place.

Family was very important to Vicki, she was always available to be our anchor, counselor, referee, confidant, friend, and guide. She had many great words of advice, perhaps two of her most famous quotes were: “Pick yourself up by your bootstraps!” and “Don’t let the bastards get you down!” She was so easy to talk to and always knew what to say to help you get back on track.

Vicki loved animals, especially dogs. She had many pets in her life, but there was one that was extra special to her, Bruiser. He is pictured above with her and preceded her in death.

In her professional life, Vicki had many careers, but her favorite was being a barber. She loved the personal connection she could make with all her customers. She also worked for AT&T as a Microwave Communications Technician, which required lifting heavy equipment outside in harsh conditions.

Vicki was a maker and creator. She was also an exceptional cook and hostess. She was known for her green thumb. Her talents in knitting and crocheting were unmatched. One of her favorite things to do was make baby blankets to give away to friends and loved ones. She also knitted sweater sets for all her newborn grandbabies to wear home from the hospital.

She was a light that left us too soon. Words cannot describe how wonderful, funny, smart, feisty, independent, sweet, loving, caring, hardworking, beautiful and inspiring she was. She was so special to so many and will truly be missed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday July 11th, 2025, at Capital Church (1010 E 700 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84102). The service will begin at 11:00 am.

Our Family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Crescent Senior Living as well as Canyon Home Care and Hospice.

In Lieu of Flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to one of the following: Capital Church, The Humane Society of Utah, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
