Vina Ruth Miles Bringhurst

May 12, 1936 Oct 27, 2023

Vina Ruth Miles Bringhurst, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, returned home on October 27, 2023, to the arms of many loved ones who were waiting for her.

She was born on May 12, 1936, in St. George, Utah, to Orson Pratt and Ruth Allen Miles. She had a happy childhood that was rich in love of family and friends that continued throughout her life. She also enjoyed many friendships made during her working years at US Steel in Provo, Scholzen Products in Hurricane, and at Hurricane High School.

Her positive, cheerful personality blessed our lives. Our mom worked for many years, but treasured her time at home, where she loved to cook, bake, and serve her family. Everyone felt welcome and loved as they came to our home.

She grew up in a home filled with music. Her parents sang and performed together. Mom and her two sisters, Paralee and Mavis enjoyed a close relationship through the years and loved singing together as the Miles Sisters Trio throughout her youth in Southern Utah.

She attended schools in St. George and graduated from 2 years of college at Dixie, where she had her share of honors and awards, one of which was Homecoming Queen 1953-54.

Vina married Archie (Bud) Bringhurst in the St. George LDS Temple in 1957, and were blessed with three loving sons, Bradley, Kurtis, and Gregory. Through the years, our family enjoyed boating and camping trips and just getting together. Mom’s greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Each one held that special place in her heart that no one else could fill. She felt close to Heaven when she could sing and rock her babies, most recently her great-grands.

She had a strong love for our Savior Jesus Christ and a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She acknowledged the Lord’s hand in her life. She was a caring and compassionate person and fulfilled her callings as Relief Society President and teacher, Young Women President and teacher, Visiting Teacher, and Primary teacher. After retiring, she served an 18-month mission at the Family History Center in St. George. She also enjoyed years of being a bridal attendant in the St. George LDS Temple. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vina is preceded in death by her parents, Orson Pratt and Ruth Allen Miles, her husband, Archie (Bud) Bringhurst, and her beloved sons, Bradley Miles Bringhurst and Kurtis Miles Bringhurst.

She is survived by her sisters, Mavis Miles and Parilee Eckman, son, Gregory (Gabriela) Bringhurst, grandchildren, Kristen (Chance) Navarro, Alexis (Derek) Wegner, Warren Bringhurst, Pierce Bringhurst, as well as 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 63 North Toquerville Blvd, Toquerville, Utah, with a visitation prior to services starting at 11:00 am.

The interment will take place at Toquerville Cemetery, 199 North Toquer Blvd, Toquerville, Utah.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 435-673-2454.
