100 Years and Counting

Virginia Elizabeth Eldredge Nelson let go of my hand and quietly slipped away to a place only she could see, hurrying to her beloved husband Val, son Kenneth Adrian, and grandson John Kenneth—her three fellas.

Born to Leon and Janet Adamson Eldredge January 15, 1918, she was fourth in a family of seven children: Milton Leon, Garnet Evelyn, Grant William, Virginia Elizabeth, Maxine, Janet and Don. All have preceded her in death, leaving Janet to "hold down the fort" until they meet again.

Virginia married Val D Nelson on March 15, 1941. Son Kenneth A. was born August 23, 1944 and daughter MarShan E. arrived October 27, 1946.

Kenneth married Teddy Ann Marrom August 5, 1966. Their gift to grandma was her two grandchildren, Adrian Leigh and John Kenneth. Adrian married Michael Meissner and blessed her with three great-grandchildren, Kendra Grace, Abigayle Michelle, and Michael John.

Virginia was an active member of the LDS church. She has served many years in the DAR & DUP, on the Supervisory Committee of Rail Ops Credit Union, in the Rio Grande Ladies Auxiliary, and volunteered over 5,600 hours at the U of U Hospital. Mom was love.

To Encompass Hospice: Love to you all and thanks for the butterflies. And to our dear Deborah who to Mom was "just like one of my kids." You are a gift.

Now my precious mother…

May He raise you up on eagles' wings

Bear you on the breath of dawn

Make you to shine like the sun

And hold you in the palm of His hand.

I will miss you terribly, but how blessed we all have been to have you in our lives. Save me a place. Love you Mom - MarShan.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, with viewings Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the Primary Children's Hospital in mom's honor.
