Wanda Ruth Sadler Dahl

Oct 17, 1932 May 11, 2023

Wanda Ruth Sadler Dahl, age 90, passed away at her home in Fairview, Utah on May 11, 2023.

Wanda was born on October 17, 1932 in San Francisco, California. Her parents were Arthur William and Katie Butler Sadler, and her siblings, Rita, Art, Ina and Lois lived in Daly City, a suburb of San Francisco, until 1950. Wanda went to Jefferson Union High School in Daly City and was a cheerleader and student body officer there. Wanda’s mother died in 1947, so Wanda learned very early to be strong and independent. Wanda went to BYU for one year, where she met Ted Dahl, who was on military leave before serving in the Korean War. They married in New York in July, 1952, where Ted was in training.

Over the next 13 years, Wanda and Ted had 8 children, and lived in Texas, New Mexico, Idaho and Oregon and Utah. Their third son, Dave’ died in infancy. Wanda dedicated her life and time to raising her children, and shared with them her fierce independence and strength. Her dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of her success in passing on her legacy of faith and service.

After the boys had grown and left home, and her divorce from Ted, Wanda returned to college and earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She worked for the North Sanpete County School District as an Elementary and Special Ed teacher until her retirement. During this time, besides raising her daughters, Wanda served as an EMT and as a counselor in the Snow College Stake Relief Society presidency, along with many other church callings and community service opportunities.

Wanda had supported each of her sons on their missions for the Church. After retirement, she then strengthened the legacy of missionary service in her family by serving two missions herself; the first in the Ivory Coast, Africa, and the second in the West Virginia area. Another example of her service was serving in the temple, which she did before and after her missions, and continued for many, many years.

The community was important to Wanda, so she was regularly involved in other civic service. She was passionate about history and was a member of the DUP, and active in that organization until her death. She also contributed to the success of the Fairview Museum of History and Art, and served for several years as the Artifacts Director there.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur William and Katie Butler Sadler, sons, Dave’ S and Clay R, along with her siblings, Rita (Grant) Hansen, Art (Merle) Sadler, Ina (Neil) Kitteridge, and Lois (Bart-living) Bennion.

Wanda is survived by her children, Mark T (Gail), Clay’s wife, Ann, Kent A (Kate), Chet J (Donna), Lili M (Hideki) Itotani, Dana K (Bill Petersen), and Tina D (Bill) Litster. She also has 41 living grandchildren and 78 living great-grandchildren.

Wanda’s funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 1:00 pm, with a viewing from 11:00-12:30 at the North Mt. Pleasant stake center at 461 N. 300 W., Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
