Warren Blaine Dunbar was born on April 3, 1940 in Prescott, Arizona, to Robert Edwin Dunbar and Clista Mae Marler Dunbar. He was the third of 3 boys. He lived in Prescott until he was 5, then the family moved to Ash Fork, Arizona.
He met his wife, Cathy Marie Hatt, while living in California to set up a branch of Dunbar Stone Company, the family business. They were married on June 17, 1966, and sealed the following day in the Oakland Temple on June 18, 1966. They were married for 58 years.
He attended school in Ash Fork, and graduated in 1958 from a Senior class of 12 students. He studied at Arizona State University and Phoenix College.
He worked for Dunbar Stone Company for most of his life, and was skilled at driving vehicles and heavy equipment. He was very proud of the Stone part of the business, and accepted his role as the head of the Paulden Sand, Rock & Redi-Mix Division.
He was an Elder and a High Priest. He served with several bishops as clerk and executive secretary, and as 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric. He was also the Building Representative and as such, cleaned the chapel for years, with the help of his family.
He and Cathy are the parents of 5 children: Jeff, Mike, Matt, Scott, and Janelle. They have 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Warren loved to camp and travel, and was blessed to take many wonderful trips through the years. He loved going out to dinner, eating ice cream, cars, playing games with his family, and laughing out loud. He loved and admired his children, and adored his grandchildren.
He lived in Prescott, Phoenix, and Chino Valley, AZ; Grants Pass, Oregon; and Springville, Utah.
He passed away on Feb. 3, 2025, following a short but dangerous illness, at Utah Valley Intermountain Hospital.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Sat., Feb. 22, with viewing at 10:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hobble Creek 6th Ward, located at 1460 E 900 S, Springville, UT.
