1943 ~ 2018

Jim was born on February 2nd 1943, He chose to leave this life on May 22 2018.

He was born in Bingham Canyon Utah to Wilbur and Kathryn Thomas. He lived in Bingham until 1954 when his family moved to Kearns, UT. He attended Kearns Elementary, Valley Junior High School, Kearns Junior High School and Granger High School, where he played football, baseball and was a wrestler. He also played baseball in Bingham for Bailey Santistevens. After graduation in 1961 he joined the U.S. Navy and became an electronics tech as a crew member flying typhoon patrols out of Guam.

He married Sue Wilcox and had a son, James Carl. (Jimmy). They later divorced. Jim had a daughter, Jody Lyn with Connie Jo Gregory. Jim then married Dianne Roberson and had a daughter, Brittany. Later divorced.

Jim retired from Kennecott as a haul truck driver. He then worked for the U.S.G.S as a hydrologist and transferred to Pueblo Colorado in 1996.

He enjoyed golf and sailing and was also a prolific reader.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Wilbur and Kay Thomas and his daughter Jody Lyn Taylor. He is survived by his sister Kathy Garrett, brother Jerry (Debbie), his son Jim Mitchell, (Syneve), his daughter Brittany Mangus, (Que) and five grandchildren, one great grandchild.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, June 27th at Utah Veterans Memorial Park at 2 PM. 17711 So. Redwood Rd.
