Zelda H. Whitney Stott

Dec 16, 1932 – Oct 6, 2026

Zelda H. Whitney Stott, 93, passed away Oct. 6, 2026, in Washington, Utah. She was born Dec. 16, 1932, with her twin sister Nelda and best friend, to George and Rachel DeMillie Hirschi Rockville, Utah.

She attended grade school in Rockville, then Hurricane for middle school and high school. She married John Whitney (later divorced). They had 4 children.

Mom enjoyed quilting, reading, word puzzles, going to club, having her hair done, jokes, games, having fun with her family and grandchildren. She worked at Bill’s Best Turkey Plant, Ma Ball as a phone operator, and JC Penney’s.

Mom and Dad were called by the St. George Stake to be Branch Pres. and Mom over the Relief Society and Young Women’s out at the Shivwits Res. Mom and Dad started a moving company and traveled the United States making money. We had boats, but Mom was scared of the water unless she had her ski belt on. But don’t get her hair wet. Then snowmobiles, she would make sandwiches and hot choc. A lot of fun memories with Mom.

She loved to travel to Evanston, WY, to see her twin sister and her older sister Lorena.

Mom later married Lawrence Stott.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Tony (Trudee) Whitney, Brent (Lisa) Whitney, Kevin (Paula) Whitney, and Alyce (Larry) Williams; Larry’s children, Jeffrey (Diane) Stott, Dixie (George) Whitehead, Charlotte Coleman, and Becky Petersen; her twin sister, Nelda Barker;13 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, LaVar Hirschi and Garland Hirschi; her sister, Lorna Saxton; daughter-in-law, Becky Whitney; and step-son-in-law, Mark Petersen.

We would like to thank Primrose Assisted Living and Summit Home Health and Hospice for caring for Mom. And thank you to Kaye Peterson and Trudee Whitney for making Mom’s hair beautiful.
