Patrick “Pat” Steven Serna, 64, born August 26, 1959, in Colorado Springs Colorado to Jose and Jean Serna. Pat left our lives but not our hearts, surrounded by family April 16, 2024, at St. George Regional Hospital in St. George, Utah.

He is survived by his mother Jeaneane, sisters Veronica and Brandy, son Heath, stepson Travis, grandchildren Sarina, Trinity, Ashdon, Scout, Elizabeth, Scarlett, Abel, Kyson, Dakota, Faith, and great-grandchild, Torrin.

He is preceded in death by his father Jose.

Pat lived in the southern Utah area from his early teen years to his death. He gave over 20 years of service to Zion National Park following in his father Joe’s footsteps and achieved the distinction of stonemason. His stonemasonry is on display in many homes and businesses throughout Springdale, including the Serna family home.

He worked on many trails including Angels Landing and was crew leader for many stone projects throughout Zion. He traveled and worked at many national parks and monuments throughout his tenure to include Grand Teton, Wyoming, Capitol Reef, Kolob, and Pipe Springs just to name a few.

He loved hunting, fishing and just being out in nature, his family believes the following prayer speaks for him in his absence.

When I am lonesome…

I look up to the clouds for they tell me of how they come and go.

When I am confused…

I listen to the wind for it tells me what is best for me.

When I am mad… I listen to the waters flow for it helps clear my mind.

...a Lakota prayer
